เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ย้ำการสนับสนุนของไทยต่อกลไกพหุภาคีในการผลักดันวาระสำคัญต่าง ๆ ในระดับโลก อาทิ สิ่งแวดล้อมและการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ และความพร้อมในการสนับสนุนกิจกรรมและโครงการต่างๆ ของสำนักงานสหประชาชาติ ณ กรุงไนโรบี ซึ่งรวมถึงการปรับปรุงกลุ่มอาคารและศูนย์ประชุมของสำนักงานฯ ซึ่งเป็นเพียงแห่งเดียวที่ตั้งอยู่ในกลุ่มประเทศโลกใต้ (global south) ให้มีความทันสมัยและเป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม

 

ในโอกาสนี้ นาง Bangura แสดงความเสียใจต่อการสิ้นพระชนม์ของสมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าพัชรกิติยาภา นเรนทิราเทพยวดี กรมหลวงราชสาริณีสิริพัชร มหาวัชรราชธิดา และแสดงความยินดีต่อการรับตำแหน่งเอกอัครราชทูตผู้แทนถาวรฯ และย้ำถึงการปฏิบัติงานที่ใกล้ชิดระหว่างสำนักงานสหประชาชาติ ณ กรุงไนโรบี และคณะกรรมการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งเอเชียและแปซิฟิก ที่กรุงเทพฯ

On 2 July 2026, Ms. Jirusaya Birananda, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Kenya, presented her credentials as Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations in Nairobi to Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations.

 

Ambassador Birananda reaffirmed Thailand’s unwaivering commitment to multilateralism to advance global agendas - including environment and climate change - and expressed readiness to support the activities and projects of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). This includes the modernization of and the greening of the UNON office complex and conference center, which is the only UN Head Quarter in the Global South.

 

On this occasion, the Director-General Bangura expressed her condolences on the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati. Furthermore, she extended congratulations to Ambassador Birananda as the Permanent Representative of Thailand to the UN Environment and UN-Habitat, and emphasized the close cooperation between the United Nations Office at Nairobi and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok.
