Tourist Visa
In addition to the requirements listed on the official Thai e-Visa website, please also refer to the specific requirements outlined on this Embassy's website. Consular officers reserve the rights to interview each applicant before granting the visa or request additional documents as deemed necessary.
PURPOSE
- For tourism purposes (category "TR")
- To seek a medical treatment in Thailand within 60 days (category "MT")
Note : Those who are scheduled to seek medical treatment in Thailand longer than 60 days, please apply for Non-Immigrant Visa category “O” for the stay not exceeding 90 days. - For Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (category “MICE”) supported by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) only upon instruction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand
VALIDITY 3 months for single entry / 6 months for multiple entries (starting from the day that visa is issued)
PERIOD OF STAY Not exceeding 60 days for single entry / Not exceeding 60 days for each stay for multiple entries (starting from the day that you arrive in Thailand)
REQUIREMENTS
TR (Tourism and leisure activities)
1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document
2. Photograph taken within the last six months. The photograph quality must comply with the ICAO’s standard.
3. Document indicating current location: Applicant must provide her/his proof of occupation as document indicating current location, depending on applicant’s status as follows:
3.1 In case where applicant is an employee, please submit 1. employment contract and 2. letter confirming applicant’s employment and acknowledging her/his leave issued by the employer. The Embassy reserves the right to request that both documents be duly certified by both a notary public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
3.2 In case where applicant is a business owner, please submit a copy or copies of documents issued by the Business Registration Services, such as a Certificate of Incorporation, Certificate of Registration, or equivalent document clearly indicating that the applicant is the owner or a shareholder of the business. The Embassy reserves the right to request that this document be duly certified by both a notary public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
3.3 In case where applicant is a freelancer, please submit an affidavit clarifying applicant's freelance job description, client groups, concrete examples of applicant’s previous clients, period of stay and purpose of visiting Thailand. The Embassy reserves the right to request that this document be duly certified by both a notary public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
In certain cases of freelancers, the Embassy may request that applicant further provide a contract/contracts concluded with the applicant’s client, or a recommendation letter issued by a client with whom the applicant has previously worked. In this case, the document must clearly indicate the applicant’s job description, the date and duration of the engagement, and the details of the remuneration. The Embassy reserves the right to request that this document/these documents be duly certified by both a notary public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
3.4 In case where applicant is a retiree, please provide a self-declaration letter indicating the applicant’s previous occupation, job description, duration of employment, and the salary or income received prior to retirement.
3.5 In case the applicant is a state official or an employee of a government agency, please provide an employment certification letter issued by the relevant government agency (and a copy of the official government identification card (if available)).
3.6 In case the applicant is a diplomat, an official, or an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an Embassy, or an international organization, please provide a Note Verbale or an official letter issued by the relevant authority certifying the applicant’s position and employment.
3.7 In case of student, please provide a letter confirming student status issued by the school or the university and copy of student ID card.
3.8 In case the applicant is unemployed, please provide an affidavit or self-declaration letter indicating the applicant’s means of livelihood and source(s) of income. If the applicant’s trip to Thailand is sponsored by another person, the applicant must also state the sponsorship arrangement in the affidavit or self-declaration letter and specify his/her relationship with the sponsor. The Embassy reserves the right to request that this document be duly certified by both a notary public and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
3.9 In case the applicant is under 20 years of age, both parents must provide a consent letter permitting the minor to travel to Thailand signed by both parents. In this connection, a copy of applicant’s birth certificate and copies of the passport biodata pages of both parents are required as proof of relationship.
Under "Document indicating current location", applicant is also required to attach rassport pages showing the applicant’s previous travel history, immigration stamps, and visas. If the applicant’s previous travel history appears in an old passport or another passport, copies of those pages must also be uploaded in the system.
4. Original bank statement which must be up-to-date showing full transaction information and a balance of at least 20,000 THB per person or in equivalent during the past three months (for tourist visa single entry) or six months (for tourist visa multiple entry). The bank statement must duly be stamped and certified by the issuing bank.
In case of using the bank statement of immediate family member, proof of kinship such as marriage certificate or birth certificate must also be attached.
In case of using bank statement of a non-immediate family member, please provide a letter clarifying relationship with the sponsoring person.
5. Travel booking confirmation: Round-trip flight reservation with the applicant’s name clearly indicated as the passenger.
6. Proof of accommodation in Thailand
6.1 In case of hotel accommodation, please provide a hotel booking confirmation showing the applicant’s name as the guest. The booking period must cover the entire duration of the trip.
6.2 In case of staying with a host in Thailand
6.2.1 If the inviting person is a Thai national, please provide:
- Invitation letter clearly stating the full name and passport number of the invitee, the address where the applicant will stay, and the duration of stay
- Copy of the Thai national ID card of the inviting person, signed to certify true copy
- Proof of residence ownership or occupancy of the address where the applicant will stay, such as a copy of the house registration or a lease agreement clearly indicating the inviting person as the owner or tenant.
6.2.2 If the inviting person is a non-Thai national, please provide:
- Invitation letter clearly stating the full name and passport number of the invitee, the address where the applicant will stay, and the duration of stay
- Copy of the passport of the inviting person
- Proof of residence ownership or occupancy of the address where the applicant will stay, such as a house registration or lease agreement clearly indicating the inviting person as the resident or tenant
- Valid residence permit in Thailand of the inviting person (together with work permit if applicable).
In cases where the applicants’ sponsoring company is organizing a group tour to Thailand, the sponsoring company may submit the following documents on behalf of all applicants, in lieu of each individual applicant preparing and submitting proof of employment and/or proof of business ownership separately:

The letter must include the following details:

Confirmation of the applicants’ current location in a country under the Embassy's jurisdiction

A complete list of applicants’ full names, passport numbers and occupations

Travel details, including entry and exit dates, length of stay, and purpose of visit

A day-by-day travel itinerary

A guarantee that all applicants will return to their country of origin (and/or resume their employment) and that they will comply with all Thai laws and regulations, including Thai Immigration Law

Signature of an authorized person whose name appears in the company’s official registration (e.g., owner, major shareholder, director, or manager)
The Embassy reserves the right to request that the confirmation letter be duly certified by a Notary Public and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
In cases where a licensed tour operator organizes a group tour to Thailand, the said tour operator may submit the following documents on behalf of all applicants, in lieu of each individual applicant preparing and submitting proof of employment and/or proof of business ownership separately:

2. Confirmation Letter issued by the Tour Operator:
The letter must contain the following information:

Confirmation of the applicants’ current location in a country under the Embassy's jurisdiction
- A complete list of applicants’ full names, passport numbers and occupations

Travel details, including entry and exit dates, length of stay, and purpose of visit

A day-by-day travel itinerary

A guarantee that all applicants will return to their country of origin (and/or resume their employment) and that they will comply with all Thai laws and regulations, including Thai Immigration Law

Signature of an authorized person whose name appears in the company’s official registration (e.g., owner, major shareholder, director, or manager)
The Embassy reserves the right to request that all the confirmation letter be duly certified by a Notary Public and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.
Participants of MICE industry (Meeting, Incentives, Convention, Exhibitions) supported by TCEB (Thailand Convention Exhibition Bureau)
- Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document
- Photograph taken within the last six months
- Document indicating current location, e.g. household registration, lease agreement, residence permit etc. In this connection, applicants are also required to provide original bank statement that must be up-to-date showing a balance of at least 20,000 THB per person or in equivalent during the past three months (for tourist visa single entry) or six months (for tourist visa multiple entry) or proof of sponsorship.
- Travel booking confirmation
- Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand
- Letter from Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB)
Medical treatment (less than 60 days)
- Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document
- Photograph taken within the last six months
- Document indicating current location, e.g. household registration, lease agreement, residence permit etc. In this connection, applicants are also required to provide original bank statement that must be up-to-date showing a balance of at least 20,000 THB per person or in equivalent during the past three months (for tourist visa single entry) or six months (for tourist visa multiple entry) or proof of sponsorship.
- In case of using the bank statement of immediate family member, proof of kinship such as marriage certificate or birth certificate must also be attached. - Travel booking confirmation
- Proof of accommodation in Thailand such as hotel booking or invitation letter from family or friend in Thailand
- in case of staying in the hospital, the letter from the hospital must mention that accommodation is provided in the hospital. - Letter of appointment from hospital/medical center
- Document proving relationship between the patient and attendants as immediate family (if applicable)
For Minor Child (under 20 years old):
- A birth certificate (original and a copy /or a notarised copy)
- A letter of consent from a parent who will not be traveling or from both of the parents if both are not traveling (original and a copy /or a notarised copy)
Applicants are primarily responsible for the authenticity and accuracy of all documents and information provided in their applications, regardless of whether the application is submitted personally or through an agent. The Embassy therefore strongly advises applicants to carefully verify all supporting documents and information prior to submission.
All supporting documents attached to the visa application must be uploaded in clear, high-resolution format. Documents submitted as photographs or scans with unclear, incomplete, cropped, or unreadable information will not be considered.
If the Embassy requests the applicant to submit additional documents or to re-upload documents due to insufficient quality, the applicant will be given only one opportunity to comply. Failure to comply with such request may result in the rejection of the visa application.
Please ensure that all documents submitted with your visa application are genuine and verifiable. Submitting fraudulent documents is a criminal offense under the law, and offenders will be blacklisted, resulting in a prohibition from entering Thailand.
The Royal Thai Embassy is a corruption-free zone. No one can claim to assist in facilitating visas to Thailand by requesting extra money apart from visa fees. Visa clients who try to offer bribes to visa staff/security/officials will have their visas revoked and put in the black list. EXTENSION OF STAY
Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or at http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
Visa on Arrival (VoA)
From 15 July 2024 onwards, Ethiopian and Seychellois passport holders can apply for the Visa on Arrival (VoA) at the airports in Thailand to stay in Thailand up to 15 days for the purpose of tourism.
Requirements for VoA
(1) VoA application form (click)
(2) Photo (4cm x 6cm) of the applicant pasted on the application form
(3) Confirmed return travel ticket, which is dated within the next 15 days
(4) Proof of accommodation in Thailand
(5) Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of stay (At least 10,000 Thai Baht per individual or 20,000 Thai Baht per one family)
(6) Fee of 2,000 Thai Baht to be paid in cash and only in the Baht currency

For proper version of applicant's frontal face photo to be attached in the visa document, kindly refer to the ICAO's standard as follows:
Photograph Quality
The photographs must be:
- taken within the last 6 months
- in colour (not black and white);
- 4.5cm high x 3.5 cm wide
- with the subject facing forward, looking straight at the camera
- in sharp focus and clear
- of high quality with no ink marks or creases
- printed professionally or taken in a passport photo booth
- of each person of their own;
- with a neutral expression with the mouth closed;
- taken with the eyes open and clearly visible with no glasses;
- taken with nothing covering the face;
- taken of the full head, without any covering unless worn for religious or medical reasons.
Head covering are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of your chin to top of the forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.

Expression and frame
Your photograph must show you alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible), looking at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed.
