เมื่อวันที่ 7 กุมภาพันธ์ 2566 เอกอัครราชทูตศศิริทธิ์ ตันกุลรัตน์ พบหารือกับนาย Mohamed Saney Dalmar อธิบดีกระทรวงพาณิชย์โซมาเลีย และนาย Abdirizak Hassan Yusuf ผู้อำนวยการส่งเสริมการลงทุน ทั้งสองฝ่ายหารือในการส่งเสริมการค้าและการลงทุนระหว่างไทยกับโซมาเลีย เนื่องจากปริมาณการค้า และการลงทุนระหว่างกันยังมีไม่มากนัก โซมาเลียเป็นคู่ค้าอันดับที่ 38 ของไทยในแอฟริกา ในปี 2565 มีปริมาณการค้ารวมประมาณ 18 ล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐ โดยสินค้าส่งออกที่สำคัญของไทยคือ อาหารทะเลแปรรูป ผลิตภัณฑ์พลาสติก เภสัชภัณฑ์ ยาง เครื่องจักรกล ส่วนสินค้าที่นำเข้าจากโซมาเลีย ได้แก่ พืชและผลิตภัณฑ์จากพืช สบู่และเครื่องสำอาง โดยในส่วนการลงทุน ได้หารือเกี่ยวกับการทำประมงและอาหารทะเลแปรรูปในโซมาเลีย และหวังว่าจะมีผู้ประกอบการไทยสนใจลงทุนในโซมาเลียเรื่องนี้มากขึ้น
On 7 February 2023, Ambassador Sasirit Tangulrat had a discussion with Mr. Mohamed Saney Dalmar, Director General and Mr. Abdirizak Hassan Yusuf, Director of Investment , Ministey of Trade of Somalia, to promote and enhance trade and investment relations between Thailand and Somalia.
Somalia is the 38th trade partner in Africa. The trade volume in 2022 was approximately 18 million USD. The main exports from Thailand are processed seafood, plastic products, pharmaceutical, rubber products, and machinery. Whereas main imports from Somalia are plants, soap and cosmetics.
On the investment front, both sides discussed on the foreign investment in fisheries industry in Somalia, and hope that there will be more Thai investors in the region.
