เมื่อวันที่ 5-9 มิถุนายน 2566 คณะผู้แทนไทยซึ่งประกอบด้วย ผู้แทนจากกระทรวงการพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมุนษย์ กระทรวงมหาดไทย กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ และกรุงเทพมหานคร ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมสมัชชาโครงการตั้งถิ่นฐานมนุษย์แห่งสหประชาชาติ (UN-Habitat Assembly) สมัยที่ 2 ที่กรุงไนโรบี ในโอกาสนี้ นายต่อศักดิ์ จันทร์เพียร อุปทูตฯ สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงไนโรบี ในฐานะหัวหน้าคณะผู้แทนไทยได้ให้การต้อนรับคณะฯ

ทั้งนี้ ในช่วงการประชุมเต็มคณะ (Plenary) น.ส. ศศิพิมพ์ อร่ามพิบูลกิจ ผู้อำนวยการกองการต่างประเทศ กระทรวงการพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมุนษย์ เป็นผู้แทนไทยกล่าวถ้อยแถลงในนามประเทศไทย (national statement) นำเสนอแนวปฏิบัติที่ดีของไทยในการพัฒนาที่อยู่อาศัยสำหรับผู้มีรายได้น้อย การเสริมสร้างชุมชนเข้มแข็ง การประกาศให้กรุงเทพมหานครเป็นเมืองที่น่าอยู่สำหรับทุกคนภายในปี พ.ศ. 2569 รวมถึงความร่วมมือกับองค์การสหประชาชาติในการนำเป้าหมายเพื่อการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน (SDGs) ไปสู่การปฏิบัติในระดับท้องถิ่น จากนั้นคณะผู้แทนไทยได้ร่วมหารือกับ Mr. Srinivasa Popuri เจ้าหน้าที่อาวุโส UN-Habitat และเจ้าหน้าที่ UN-Habitat ประจำภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิกเพื่อหารือถึงการขยายความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศไทยกับ UN-Habitat ในอนาคต

The delegation of Thailand attends the Second Session of UN-Habitat Assembly at United Nations Office in Nairobi

On 5-9 June 2023, Mr. Torsak Janpian, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of Thailand as head of delegation of Thailand, led the Thai delegation from Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to attend the the Second Session of UN-Habitat Assembly.

During the plenary session, Ms. Sasipim Arampibulkit, Director, Foreign Affairs Division, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, represented Thailand to deliver national statement, underscoring Thailand's programmes to provide access to safe and affordable housing for people, including low and middle income earners, the empowerment of the urban poor communities, and the local goal of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to achieve “a livable city for all” by 2026, and strengthening collaboration with UN agencies in implementing the localization of Sustainable Developemnt Goals (SDGs).

In addition, the delegation of Thailand also discussed areas of cooperation in the future with Mr. Srinivasa Popuri, Senior Human Settlements Officer, UN-HABITAT Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
