Non-Immigrant Visa

PURPOSE 

  • to perform official duties such as those assuming position at the international organization's office in Thailand or students under the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA)'s scholarship programmes, or to attend meetings with government of Thailand, foreign government or International Organization in Thailand (Category "F")
  • to conduct business / to work (Category "B")
  • to study, to have a work study or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminars, or to attend a conference, workshop or training course (Category "ED")
  • to work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter (Category "M")
  • to perform missionary work or other religious activities with the concurrence of the Thai Ministries or Government Departments concerned (Category "R")
  • to conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute (Category "RS")
  • to undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or specialist (Category "EX")
  • other activities (Category "O") as follows: to stay with the family, to perfrom duties for the state enterprise or social welfare organizations (volunteer without paid), to stay after retirement for the elderly (long stay), to receive medical treatment longer than 60 days, to be a sport coach as required by the Royal Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.

VALIDITY
 3 months for single entry / 1 year for multiple entries


PERIOD OF STAY
 Not exceeding 90 days for each entry 



REQUIREMENTS

For ALL categories:

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months 
  • A copy of passport biodata page
  • Visa application form completely filled out (click)
  • Two photographs (passport size 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background taken within the past six months
  • One-way or round-trip (if applicable) flight booking confirmation
  • Accommodation/Hotel booking confirmation 

Additional requiremnts for EACH category:

Those going to assume position in Thailand (Category "F")

  • Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the applicant’s country, or the agency or organization of the UN, which must clearly specify the name, position and purpose of the trip

Those going to attend a meeting with the Royal Thai Government, foreign government or International Organization in Thailand (Category "F")

  • Letter from applicant’s company/ university/ institution indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, purpose of visit to Thailand, length of stay in Thailand, and the financial coverage for the trip (if applicable)
  • Letter of invitation from Thailand indicating length of stay (period of stay), purpose of visit to Thailand, and the financial coverage for the trip (if applicable)

Those going to work in Thailand (Category "B")
(Note:
Standard Process for foreigners who wish to work in Thailand as shown below)

  • Cover letter from the company in Thailand specifying employment detail including position, salary, and employment period
  • Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour (only in case the applicant has previously worked in Thailand) OR Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour (Form WP.3)
    Note: To obtain this letter of approval, the prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour Tel 02-2452745, 02-2453209 or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province. 
  • Employment contract indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications (document must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed the seal of the company)
  • Copy of corporate documents; namely (1) list of shareholders (2) business registration and business license (3) company profile (4) details of business operation (5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions (6) map indicating the location of the company (7) balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30) of the latest year (8) Alien income tax return (Por Ngor Dor 91) and (9) Value-added tax registration (Por Ngor Dor 20), etc.
  • Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with official stamp of the bank showing a balance of at least 1,000 USD per person or 2,000 USD per family in equivalent during the past six months
  • Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time (if any)

Those going to work as teacher in Thailand (Category "B")

  • Letter confirming the employment from a  educational institution in Thailand    
  • Letter from the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) or the hiring government agency
    Note: Teachers at the international schools is exempted for the letter from OPEC.
  • Copy of the educational institution's registration papers 
  • Employment contract indicating salary, position and qualifications 
  • Copy of educational records of the applicant
  • Police clearance from the applicant's country of origin
  • Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with official stamp of the bank showing a balance of at least 1,000 USD per person or 2,000 USD per family in equivalent during the past six months

Those going to conduct business in Thailand (Category "B")

  • Letter from the applicant’s company indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, salary and purpose of visit(s) to Thailand
  • Documents showing correspondence with business partners in Thailand
  • Evidence of financial status in the case where the applicant is self-employed
  • Letter of invitation from trading or associated partners/companies in Thailand 
  • Corporate documents of the company in Thailand; such as business registration and business license issued by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, list of shareholders, company profile, details of business operation, list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions, map indicating location of the company and balance sheet, statement of income tax and business (Por Ngor For 50 and Por For Ngor 30 of the latest year)
  • Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with official stamp of the bank showing a balance of at least 1,000 USD per person or 2,000 USD per family in equivalent during the past six months

Those going to study in Thailand (Category "ED")

  • Letter of acceptance from the concerned school/university or institute in Thailand
  • Letter from the OPEC or local educational office where the school is located 
    Note: Students at the international schools or unversities are exempted from this requirement.
  • Copy of the educational institution's registration papers
  • Evidence of financial support for the study in Thailand

Those going to attend a conference, workshop, or training course in Thailand (Category "ED")

  • Cover letter from applicant’s company/ entity/ institution indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, purpose of visit to Thailand, length of stay in Thailand, and the financial coverage for the trip (if applicable)
      - Copy of the registration paper of the company/ entity/ institution in the applicant's country is also necessary.
  • Letter of invitation from Thailand indicating length of stay (period of stay), purpose of visit to Thailand, and the financial coverage for the trip (if applicable)  - Copies of the registration paper of the inviting organization/entity in Thailand, passport or ID of the inviting person, and work permit in Thailand (in case of non-Thai) are also necessary.
  • Evidence of financial support such as bank statement (if not supported by the company or institution above)

Those going to accompany family members to Thailand (Category "O")

  • Document proving relationship with concerned family member; such as birth certificate or marriage certificate 
    Note: Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai or English and properly notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic/consular mission.
  • Evidence of financial support for the stay in Thailand

Those going to volunteer without paid in Thailand (Category "O")

  • Cover letter from the host organization confirming the position as volunteer, including copy of the registration paper in Thailand and ID copy (if Thai) or passport copy and work permit (if non-Thai) of the signee
  • Document from the Thai government agency responsible for the host organization approving the volunteer position 
  • Evidence of financial support for the stay in Thailand

Those going to conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute (Category "RS")

  • Letter from the National Research Council of Thailand


EXTENSION OF STAY

- Those qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry into Thailand pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau's regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
- Applicants wishing to stay in Thailand longer than 90 days have to file their application at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or at http://www.immigration.go.th).
